Renovation in LaupheimTaking shape: the new C4

The renovation of our C4 building in Laupheim is making huge progress. The UD, UPD and UAD Business Units are scheduled to move into the freshly renovated premises this summer. Stefan Meingast, Senior Expert Facility Management, and Ulrich Gräfe from the architectural firm gräfe architekten share some details and a sneak peek inside the project.

The building

  • The two office floors (inter­nally dubbed “Tech­nology”) were built in the mid-1990s in two succes­sive construc­tion phases.
  • Outer dimen­sions: approx. 47 x 40 meters
  • The office floors were planned and built as part of the expan­sion of the assembly facility to the north with the aim of bringing assembly and construc­tion plan­ning closer together.
  • The two floors were designed as open-plan offices with flex­ible work­spaces. The modern working envi­ron­ments are reflected in the spatial concept and the furnishing of the work zones we are familiar with from the D6 building (Meeting, Create, Focus, Lounge, etc.).

The project

  • Plan­ning and imple­men­ta­tion: Ulrich Gräfe, (external) Facility Manage­ment, is respon­sible for super­vising the construc­tion project, while Stefan Mein­gast, Senior Expert Facility Manage­ment, is in charge of imple­menting the “New Work” concept of modern working envi­ron­ments. In addi­tion, many colleagues from different areas have been supporting the project from day one.
  • Who is moving in? Busi­ness Unit UD: 1st and 2nd floors, UPD and UAD: 1st floor
  • Commis­sioning for a reno­va­tion concept: März 2018
  • Start of plan­ning with project team: Herbst 2019
  • Deci­sion for modern working envi­ron­ments: August 2020
  • Start of construc­tion: Sommer 2021
  • Move-in sched­uled for: Sommer 2022

The reno­va­tion measures

  • Sani­tary facil­i­ties are being completely renewed and spatially rearranged.
  • All building services (electricity/ lighting/ ventilation/ plumbing) are being renewed.
  • New venti­la­tion units are being installed on the roof.
  • Instal­la­tion of a cooling system with cooling elements on the ceil­ings.
  • New floor cover­ings are being installed.
  • The new ceiling with suspended sound absorp­tion baffles absorbs sound.
  • The inte­rior sun shading will remain; exte­rior blinds will be replaced.

 

New Work takes time to build: and there’s still plenty to do in Building C4.

But you can already see a lot of details.

Taking the modern route between UD, UAD and UPD on the first and second floors.

The view of the main building is just as impres­sive as ...
