In order to carry out the migra­tion, the majority of the Axito team was sent off for a well-deserved Easter weekend on Maundy Thursday. Around 70 colleagues took this shut­down as an oppor­tu­nity to bid farewell to the Axito era and get in the mood for the new times. So the “4 pm beer” (kind of a Swabian tradi­tion) was served in Mietingen at the Tennis Center. With some nice food and drinks the colleagues enjoyed the cozy atmos­phere with lively conver­sa­tions.

I was pleased that so many people took part in the party. This shows the cohe­sion in the produc­tion.

How did the migra­tion go?

We are grateful and proud of all those colleagues who took care of the migra­tion of the produc­tion data during the Easter weekend. From Thursday to Easter Monday, the team worked flat out on migrating the systems. After the kick-off on Thursday, mate­rial masters and produc­tion orders were migrated. Daily status meet­ings ensured clear commu­ni­ca­tion and esca­la­tion when neces­sary. Printing of the migrated orders started on Friday and errors were imme­di­ately corrected. On Saturday, a total of 16 colleagues exchanged order papers throughout the plant and carried out the first system tests. Despite minor prob­lems, the orders were processed success­fully. At the same time, the migra­tion of unre­leased orders and work plans began. Thanks to the great progress made, the team was able to take a break on Easter Sunday to spend the day with their fami­lies. The inven­tory migra­tion began on Easter Monday. After a thor­ough check it was clear: the produc­tion was ready for the night shift. All in all, it was a great team effort from IT and the specialist depart­ments.

The collab­o­ra­tion between the specialist depart­ments and IT was very good. As soon as someone had completed their task, they imme­di­ately offered their support again. This allowed me to concen­trate fully on the migra­tion.

We are now in the rework phase. As is usual with a system migra­tion, the following weeks more inten­sive. The team from IT  and specialist depart­ments is currently working through the remaining issues. There is still a lot to do.
