Uhlmann OrchestraBound by the rhythm

Whether it’s a Christmas market, a company celebration, a family day, or a birthday song – the Uhlmann Orchestra puts its heart and soul into making each event an unforgettable musical experience and a wonderful tradition.

“Hey, do you play an instrument? Then why not join us!” This is how we regularly approach and invite colleagues to join our team. It all started over 30 years ago. At that time, we were just a small group of five, and the first time we performed was at a Christmas party back in December 1991 at a mulled wine festival (Glühweinfest). Gradually, the group expanded and evolved into a small orchestra. And that’s when we realized: We need a conductor.

Music has always played an important role in my life – and the harmony of music brings people together. Each musician with their instrument contributes to the overall sound of the orchestra – and this alone ensures consistently outstanding results. As a conductor, it’s a great feeling to have a team of musicians you can rely on. And that’s what has always given me the greatest pleasure and satisfaction in this job.

Even as a child, Dietmar Ott was …
… a passionate brass player.

Today, the orchestra has around 50 musicians. Some only play in the orchestra from time to time, some drop out and return later, while others have been on the team since the very beginning. It’s great that we have colleagues here from all areas of the company. You get to know people you would normally never meet workwise, or whom you only know by sight; that always makes it interesting.

Music is the common language of all musicians. In the Uhlmann Orchestra, newcomers make music with experienced colleagues. They regularly manage, within a short space of time, to create something wonderful. And that’s what connects you.

Change happens everywhere. And the Uhlmann Orchestra is no exception. For our next performance at the “Weihnachtszauber 2024” Christmas event, we will be led by a new conductor: Matthias Schrade, Automation Engineer, UCUM, is looking forward to picking up the baton.

The Uhlmann Orchestra is a great thing. Here you can forget the stress of everyday life, devote yourself to your hobby and make new contacts very easily. I therefore invite all musicians to become part of the Uhlmann Orchestra, because where language ends, music begins.

The joy of making music together, the sense of community, and doing it all voluntarily. The repertoire ranges from Jingle Bells to hits by Michael Jackson, etc. In between times, we also stop off for a bite to eat somewhere to foster our fellowship and friendship.

The performances and rehearsals are fun and create good vibes! For me, it’s a great tradition and a ‘small’ part of our culture.

Anyone who wishes to join us is welcome to do so at any time – whether they are new to the company or have been with us for a long time.

Help us improve.
