A shopping trip to New York, a beach vacation on Hawaii, or a wellness break in Thailand – many of us envisaged such or similar options for their summer vacation in 2020 – but things turned out differently for most of us this year.
The latest information on travel restrictions and safety are to be found on the official websites of the countries. Otherwise check the German Federal Foreign Office.
Covid-19 travel warnings
COVID-19 travel warnings have been issued worldwide over the past months. Anyone planning a vacation would do well to find out which regulations currently apply and what must be heeded when returning from a risk area. This also applies to the vacation plans of Uhlmann colleagues.
Submission of vacation photos
We wanted to hear whether and how the vacation plans of Uhlmann colleagues had to be changed. It was pretty clear that many travel plans would have to be abandoned, so we posted a request for photos through the Uhlmann portal (submission deadline September 30, 2020).
How are Uhlmann Group colleagues spending their vacation this year? We would like to see some photos!
Group-wide participation
Many colleagues from the globally distributed companies and offices of the Uhlmann Group participated.

Take a look at the private vacation album
They give us an impression of their 2020 summer vacation:

“My family likes to travel everywhere. As my daughter is still small, we chose the scenery around us instead of a long journey. Spending time with our family is the best vacation. From my perspective, this is the most beautiful scenery, right now is the best life. In the next vacation, my family plans to visit Jeju Island in South Korea, as well as the children’s amusement paradise Disney. Looking forward to the vacation!”

Vacation enjoyment close to home
As seen in these photos, many colleagues decided to spend this year’s summer vacation close to home.
“Why seek far affield when there are good alternatives nearby?”
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe posed a question along these lines and promptly came up with the answer that it is not essential to go far to discover good (interesting) things.
Vacationers – particularly those returning from declared risk areas – must continue to heed regulations (status October 2020). Those with a vacation coming up, but not wishing to take a risk, can gain inspiration on attractive, nearby destinations from colleagues. To be truthful, how many of us have really been to all the local sites that are worth a visit?
