The weather forecast for our trip from July 24 to 27 promised heavy rain for Southern Germany and the entire Alpine region. For this reason, six bikers set off on Wednesday afternoon to get to St. Leonhard as dry as possible. A defect on one of the motorcycles slowed the group down a bit. At 11:30 p.m., they finally rolled up at the Pension Schlossberg in Passeier valley. However, the late arrival did not prevent the “dry riders” from enjoying a very long night in the swimming pool.

After coffee and butter pretzels on Thursday morning, seven more asphalt surfers set off from Laupheim-Baustetten. The humidity from Laupheim to Memmingen was a little too high, but by Kempten at the latest, they could have taken off their rain suits. In Imst, at the foot of the Hahntennjoch, another biker joined the group after picking up his motorcycle with new tires from the repair shop that morning. The group was happy to enjoy the rest of the tour over the Timmelsjoch to the Jaufen Pass without rain.
Rain gaps sought and found
After a delicious and hearty dinner, we welcomed Steve Cox from the UK. A loyal Uhlmann colleague, now retired, travels two to three days every year to meet up with the other bikers!
On Friday and Saturday, the goal was not to find routes with the most curves or the most beautiful viewpoints, but rather to find breaks in the rain. The different groups largely succeeded in doing so, and we still got to enjoy our curves and challenging routes. The participants who spent both days at the guesthouse also got wet – but in the outdoor and indoor pools.

As always, Sunday was set aside for the return trip to Laupheim. Here, too, the goal this year was to find the driest route possible. Sometimes this worked out well, sometimes less so.
The most important thing: everyone returned home safe and sound. There was good food and drink, and everyone had a lot of fun.
Due to the large number of angels traveling, the 2025 trip ended up being mostly dry. But the weather forecast couldn’t have known that before our tour. 😊
