Uhlmann Oberschwaben Cycling Grand Prix3, 2, 1 – Race!

At the end of May 2025, the 1st Uhlmann Oberschwaben Cycling Grand Prix turned the region between Lake Constance and Oberschwaben into a cycling hot spot. Right in the middle of it was Thomas Maucher, Controller, who celebrated a successful racing debut in the amateur race.

As the main sponsor and namesake of the 1st Uhlmann Oberschwaben Cycling Grand Prix, Uhlmann supported four days of exciting cycling. The stage race, which started with an individual time trial and led to the grand finale via challenging circuits, was an excellent opportunity to promote our strong regional commitment and our conviction that exercise and health are crucial factors for well-being. 330 road cyclists competed in a total of 13 different classes.

Profile Thomas Maucher

At Uhlmann since: 1998

Riding a road bike since: his early 20s, initially just to rebuild muscle after tearing his cruciate ligament.

Number of kilometers per year: approx. 4000

This is how the Uhlmann Oberschwaben Cycling Grand Prix went: As a cycling fan, it’s a really interesting event. You could ask other riders and coaches who compete at a completely different level questions about the race. It was also a great experience to not just watch a race from the sidelines, but to actively make decisions yourself.

A race for amateur racers took place over two days. Thomas Maucher was among the participants. It was his first race ever, so he was understandably nervous before the first start, a 14-kilometre time trial. He completed this distance in 21:50 minutes, averaging 38 km/h. The next day, he competed in a circuit race near Bad Schussenried. It was a relatively flat lap, 4.48 kilometres, which he had to complete a total of eight times. In the final sprint, he crossed the finish line in second place. A strong performance.

In his racing debut, Thomas Maucher gave it his all in the final sprint…

… and was rewarded with second place.

It continues in 2026

Preparations for the Uhlmann Oberschwaben Cycling Grand Prix 2026 are already running. From 14 to 17 May 2026, four days of top-class road cycling will once again be on the agenda. So mark your calendars and get on your bikes!
