Aziz Simsek is not easily bowled over. The 41-year-old first entered the boxing ring at the age of 30 and quickly gained ground: he won 15 of 16 fights, 12 of which with knock\u00adouts. He has no need to floor anyone during his working day, but does have to survive a number of rounds: meet\u00adings, discus\u00adsions with staff members, plan\u00adning sessions, and moun\u00adtains of paper. The opening of a new plant demands disci\u00adpline. Partic\u00adu\u00adlarly when it does not simply involve an extended work\u00adbench, at which unskilled workers tighten screws for low pay. \u201cWe are just as excel\u00adlently posi\u00adtioned here as in Laupheim: produc\u00adtion, finance depart\u00adment, purchasing, and our own IT, just some\u00adwhat smaller\u201d, says the new Managing Director of Uhlmann Poland.<\/p>\n

Smaller, but impres\u00adsive. Alone opti\u00adcally, the plant is an eye-catcher with its white shiny floor, but more outstanding is its tech\u00adno\u00adlog\u00adical stan\u00addard: brand-new machines, smart\u00adphones that operate doors and printers, and the SAP version of tomorrow. \u201cMany compa\u00adnies set up plants abroad because they want to be cheap. Do it your\u00adself<\/h2>\n
Uhlmann Polska should help the Group to attain a funda\u00admental asset: inde\u00adpen\u00addence. \u201cAt present, we purchase prac\u00adti\u00adcally the same amount exter\u00adnally as we produce in Laupheim. That leads to draw\u00adbacks with regard to delivery times, as well as price and capacity plan\u00adning\u201d, states Simsek. It is much less compli\u00adcated and more flex\u00adible when mechan\u00adical parts are produced within the Uhlmann Group.<\/p>\n
Against this back\u00adground, Aziz Simsek began to scour Europe last year in search of an optimum site. In Wroc\u0142aw, it was not only the atmos\u00adphere that fitted the bill. All other rele\u00advant aspects, such as the distance from Laupheim (a loaded truck that sets off in the morning can easily reach the plant by the evening), the infra\u00adstruc\u00adture, and the skilled workers avail\u00adable on the job market.<\/p>\n
Ahead of its time<\/h2>\n
Over 50 new colleagues now work in Wroc\u0142aw, found through adver\u00adtise\u00adments and with the help of local talent scouts. Several of them were already in Laupheim in order to gain the neces\u00adsary know-how for their jobs and, vice versa, to enable them to give Laupheim more specific produc\u00adtion support in the future.<\/p>\n
Simsek busies himself with the entire work\u00adforce every day: \u201cThe atmos\u00adphere in the plant is very familiar and friendly\u201d, says the Managing Director. Regis\u00adtered in Poland since May, he has already learned some Polish. Born in the state of Hesse, but raised near Laupheim, Simsek is not one to waste time. The orig\u00adinal plan for the plant was to produce its first part in July 2020. The month of July was achieved, but in 2019. Cake and pret\u00adzels were served to cele\u00adbrate.<\/p>\n
The plant is mean\u00adwhile oper\u00adating in two shifts \u2013 and Aziz Simsek continues to run at full speed. Fortu\u00adnately for him, the studio he visits for a round of boxing after finishing work at around 9:30 pm is open 24 hours a day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
