At the begin\u00adning of my intern\u00adship at Uhlmann, I joined the DXP project without knowing what to expect. Digital Expe\u00adri\u00adence Plat\u00adform (DXP) \u2013 the term alone sounded exciting and promising. But what lay behind it was not just a tech\u00adnical plat\u00adform, but a project that I was able to expe\u00adri\u00adence first-hand, with all its chal\u00adlenges, moments of success and, of course, lots of new expe\u00adri\u00adences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From idea to real\u00adi\u00adsa\u00adtion \u2013 a student\u2019s perspec\u00adtive<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Our website at the time could be compared to an old car: outdated, slow and not partic\u00adu\u00adlarly user-friendly. Visi\u00adbility declined because the page struc\u00adture and content did not meet the require\u00adments of search engines and the navi\u00adga\u00adtion was like a labyrinth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of my first and most impor\u00adtant tasks was to support the relaunch of the website. We analysed the existing website, iden\u00adti\u00adfied weak\u00adnesses and devel\u00adoped solu\u00adtions that were inte\u00adgrated into the new Digital Expe\u00adri\u00adence Plat\u00adform (DXP). As a team, we planned the content and struc\u00adture of the new website to improve the user expe\u00adri\u00adence (UX) and increase rele\u00advance and quality. The UX describes all of a person\u2019s percep\u00adtions and reac\u00adtions when using or expecting to use a product\/system. At the same time, we devel\u00adoped a clear and intu\u00aditive navi\u00adga\u00adtion to increase the inter\u00adac\u00adtivity of the website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another key aspect of my tasks was testing the modules in the system and trans\u00adfer\u00adring existing content to the new DXP, which allows customer enquiries to be collected, provided and converted into sales oppor\u00adtu\u00adni\u00adties as part of lead gener\u00ada\u00adtion. By intro\u00adducing the new digital corpo\u00adrate design and clear user guid\u00adance, I trans\u00adferred the existing data and infor\u00adma\u00adtion from the old website to the new plat\u00adform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new website is avail\u00adable in four languages: English, German, Chinese and Spanish.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Another impor\u00adtant part of the project was the devel\u00adop\u00adment of an edito\u00adrial process for the creation and regular updating of content. This process should clearly show the steps and be effi\u00adcient and struc\u00adtured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mastering chal\u00adlenges, cele\u00adbrating successes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Of course, not every\u00adthing went smoothly. One of the biggest chal\u00adlenges was recon\u00adciling the different perspec\u00adtives and require\u00adments. What worked well for one depart\u00adment didn\u2019t always work for the others. But it was precisely this collab\u00ado\u00adra\u00adtion that showed how impor\u00adtant an open dialogue is. Solu\u00adtions were found together, and the end result was a plat\u00adform that met all require\u00adments.

Of course, there were also some partic\u00adu\u00adlarly moti\u00advating moments. For example, when a complex work\u00adflow finally worked, a long coor\u00addi\u00adna\u00adtion process led to a clear result or the first test runs of the plat\u00adform received posi\u00adtive feed\u00adback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The result of the project is impres\u00adsive: The new DXP is not only a plat\u00adform of various networked solu\u00adtions and tech\u00adnolo\u00adgies to offer (poten\u00adtial) customers a high-quality and stan\u00addard\u00adised expe\u00adri\u00adence across all digital chan\u00adnels, but also a reflec\u00adtion of the collab\u00ado\u00adra\u00adtion at Uhlmann. The successful imple\u00admen\u00adta\u00adtion has created a basis on which future projects can build.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The employees not only contributed their exper\u00adtise, but also their expe\u00adri\u00adence from their day-to-day work \u2013 together with inter\u00adac\u00adtive tools, our digital agency that has been devel\u00adoping customer-centric digital plat\u00adforms and service expe\u00adri\u00adences for over 25 years, we devel\u00adoped the entire website. The project started in 2023 and went live within a year. Although it had a fixed dura\u00adtion, it was adapted flex\u00adibly to new require\u00adments and devel\u00adop\u00adments. The focus was on sustain\u00adable growth and contin\u00aduous improve\u00adment to ensure long-term success. This includes expanding content, connecting to other systems, scaling and imple\u00admenting addi\u00adtional services.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Posi\u00adtioning the Uhlmann brand as an expert, acquiring new customers and iden\u00adti\u00adfying new areas of interest among existing customers, strength\u00adening customer loyalty through digital, stan\u00addard\u00adised and user-friendly processes.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

It has now been live since July 2024 \u2013 Uhlmann\u2019s DXP \u2013 a result that everyone involved can be proud of. Because it shows: At Uhlmann, the focus is not only on inno\u00adva\u00adtion and tech\u00adnology, but above all on the people who make these inno\u00adva\u00adtions possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But that\u2019s just the begin\u00adning<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We have created a solid basis for the Digital Expe\u00adri\u00adence Plat\u00adform, which is now being expanded further. The \u201eMyUhlmann\u201c customer portal is currently a minimum viable product (MVP), i.e. an initial func\u00adtional version. In order to create added value for our customers, we need to inte\u00adgrate addi\u00adtional func\u00adtion\u00adal\u00adi\u00adties. We are currently working on bringing the infor\u00adma\u00adtion on e-learning onto the plat\u00adform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are also ongoing projects such as the expan\u00adsion of modules, the expan\u00adsion of content and the search engine opti\u00admi\u00adsa\u00adtion of content.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
