There is a problem some\u00adwhere beneath the 10.40 meter long stain\u00adless steel frame \u2013 and Sievers detests hidden diffi\u00adcul\u00adties. The reason is quickly found and easily reme\u00addied this time. The reject box for empty blis\u00adters on the BLU 200 is full. In recent months, Sievers has had to deal with quite different chal\u00adlenges. Bringing a new line into line is no cake\u00adwalk \u2013 partic\u00adu\u00adlarly when it is the first one to undergo full in-house testing. <\/p>\n
\u201cNever before have we brought out two new machines at the same time \u2013 and never have we tested a machine to this extent\u201d, states Product Manager Werner Blersch. The extent meant by Blersch relates to the fact that Uhlmann has prac\u00adti\u00adcally become a phar\u00adma\u00adceu\u00adtical manu\u00adfac\u00adturer to test the BLU 200 and the C 200. Five million ampoules have been procured, a hall rented, and a situ\u00ada\u00adtion created to imitate customer produc\u00adtion condi\u00adtions. \u201cWe started here with nothing: no power, no network, and no mark\u00adings\u201d, explains the initi\u00adating Project Manager Giuseppe La Gattuta with a sweeping gesture, indi\u00adcating the sepa\u00adrated hall area where the line has been standing since July. Or \u2013 more to the point \u2013 has been doing every\u00adthing apart from just standing. After all, it should demon\u00adstrate its profi\u00adciency \u2013 and what is not yet perfect. \u201cWe are pushing the line to its limits, and some\u00adtimes beyond, to reveal its weak points\u201d, says Blersch.<\/p>\n
That is the purpose behind such exten\u00adsive and time-consuming testing. In future, first customers should also be able to rely on smooth processes. \u201cEven if a proto\u00adtype is purchased, the customer still expects every\u00adthing to func\u00adtion. It is a win-win situ\u00ada\u00adtion when that is the case\u201d, adds Bersch. In order to achieve this, the team set itself tech\u00adnical, qual\u00adi\u00adta\u00adtive, and optional objec\u00adtives prior to commencing the project in August 2019. Tasks included timing the dura\u00adtion of complete format changeovers and iden\u00adti\u00adfying overall equip\u00adment effec\u00adtive\u00adness (OEE) improve\u00adment measures.![](\"https:\/\/pactuell.com\/de\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/12\/Blersch_web-2.jpg\")
What sounds like dull theory has left colorful marks on the head-high wall surrounding the test area in the hall. La Gattuta points to a wall covered with print\u00adouts. The sheets are arranged system\u00adat\u00adi\u00adcally. Various colored bars visu\u00adalize, among other things, the most frequently encoun\u00adtered prob\u00adlems. The bar depicting serious diffi\u00adcul\u00adties, which lead to produc\u00adtion down\u00adtimes, has signif\u00adi\u00adcantly dimin\u00adished over the recorded months. \u201cThe perfor\u00admance is constantly improving\u201d, says Blersch.<\/p>\n

The produc\u00adtion processes were discussed before\u00adhand with various customers and, where possible, applied. The involved produc\u00adtion volumes are enor\u00admous and have to be managed. That proves to be diffi\u00adcult. The appointed personnel cannot keep up with unpacking the produced packs.<\/p>\n
However, Uhlmann will profit from its find\u00adings in the future. \u201cWe are creating a basis for a new approach to bring Uhlmann prod\u00aducts to matu\u00adrity\u201d, explains La Gattuta. The laying of this foun\u00adda\u00adtion is not yet entirely completed. When the team presented the produc\u00adtion test results upon comple\u00adtion of the project at the begin\u00adning of December, the check\u00admark behind the stability and quality veri\u00adfi\u00adca\u00adtion on the basis of OEE improve\u00adment, for instance, was missing. \u201cEvery day over the past months we have strived to move forward and have made good progress. However, we have not yet fully reached the overall objec\u00adtive in terms of perfor\u00admance assess\u00adment and improve\u00adment\u201d, says Sievers. \u201cThere\u00adfore, although the project has come to an end, we are contin\u00aduing to work on this to attain 100 percent for all objec\u00adtives.\u201d<\/p>\n
