Social media allows busi\u00adnesses to connect with people who would other\u00adwise be beyond reach. And while you can present your brand on your website, on social media, you can actu\u00adally engage with your audi\u00adence. \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of poten\u00adtial here,\u201d says Marion Neubrand, Marketing Specialist at Uhlmann.<\/p>\n

So far, we have made good use of this poten\u00adtial. \u201cOur goal for 2022 was to crack the ten-thou\u00adsand follower mark on Linkedin,\u201d says Neubrand. \u201cAnd we\u2019re delighted to have already achieved that goal in the first half of the year.\u201d The overall objec\u00adtive, he says, is to expand Uhlmann\u2019s reach on the plat\u00adform. \u201cWe are looking to increase our expo\u00adsure. We create links to content on our websites, and our ulti\u00admate goal is to use lead gener\u00ada\u00adtion to attract poten\u00adtial new customers. There\u2019s a good chance that anyone who lands on our website via LinkedIn will use the plat\u00adform to send us an inquiry or try to get in touch with us in other ways\u201d, Neubrand explains.<\/p>\n

Partic\u00adi\u00adpating and gener\u00adating content<\/h3>\n

But it all starts with content. And our colleagues must first make this content avail\u00adable so that it can be viewed, liked, commented on and shared. It\u2019s not just our marketing colleagues who take care of this. \u201cIt\u2019s impor\u00adtant to us that other colleagues also get involved, propose topics, and send us photos or videos,\u201d says Neubrand. That\u2019s why people are regu\u00adlarly encour\u00adaged to join in. A good example would be one of someone working on the shop floor,\u201d Neubrand says. This kind of post simul\u00adta\u00adne\u00adously attracts a mixed audi\u00adence: Uhlmann employees, Uhlmann customers, or even suppliers of other equip\u00adment.<\/p>\n

There is also a lively exchange with inter\u00adna\u00adtional social media colleagues: \u201cWe also make our content avail\u00adable for the LinkedIn chan\u00adnels of our sites in the USA, Singa\u00adpore, France, Brazil and Spain,\u201d says Neubrand, \u201cBut they also post their own content, of course.\u201d She also finds it inter\u00adesting to see how different users behave around the world: \u201cPeople in South America, for example, tend to \u2018like\u2019 and share more than, say, users in Europe who are a touch more hesi\u00adtant. In China, on the other hand, LinkedIn has been blocked and banned. So our colleagues over there tend to use the WeChat messenger app instead.\u201d<\/p>\n

So what\u2019s the trick to extending social media reach?<\/h3>\n

Anything posted by Uhlmann is only displayed to those who also follow Uhlmann directly, and that\u2019s currently around 11,200 followers. \u201cBut if an Uhlmann employee responds to one of our posts with a like or a comment, users who network with this colleague will also see this post,\u201d Neubrand explains. That\u2019s why it\u2019s so impor\u00adtant to us that colleagues actively use LinkedIn and network with their customer contacts or other inter\u00adested parties on social media.<\/p>\n

In addi\u00adtion to LinkedIn<\/a>, Uhlmann is also on Face\u00adbook<\/a>, Xing<\/a>, YouTube<\/a> and Insta\u00adgram<\/a>. Insta\u00adgram is main\u00adtained inde\u00adpen\u00addently by our trainees.<\/p>\n
