Arnaud Smoljan has a lot on his plate right now. Since January 2022, Uhlmann France has been oper\u00adating autonomously, and sepa\u00adrately from Fette Compacting, at the site near Paris. There\u2019s a lot of bureau\u00adcracy to deal with, but the 41-year-old who has been working for Uhlmann for two and a half years doesn\u2019t allow himself to get stressed. \u201cWe\u2019re well-rehearsed here and our team has been around for a long time,\u201d he says. The team includes him as Managing Director, a further sales\u00adperson, a service manager, two sales assis\u00adtants and a tech\u00adni\u00adcian in France. There is also a sales manager and a tech\u00adni\u00adcian in Algeria. From there, Uhlmann France looks after both Algeria and Morocco and Tunisia. The three Maghreb states are impor\u00adtant markets for Uhlmann France.<\/p>\n

Ambi\u00adtions for the market<\/h3>\n

\u201cJust five years ago, for example, we were selling more new machines in the all so impor\u00adtant Maghreb coun\u00adtries than we were in France \u201d says Arnaud. \u201cBut we\u2019ve been working on this and are now gaining ground in terms of sales within France as well.\u201d Uhlmann France offers customers a total package. \u201cWe don\u2019t have a typical customer request,\u201d says the managing director. \u201cWe sell machines, do upgrades and e-upgrades, change parts and take care of main\u00adte\u00adnance.\u201d In France, customers mostly come from the region around Paris or from the north of France. They are mainly large phar\u00adma\u00adceu\u00adtical compa\u00adnies, but an increasing number of CDMOs (Contract Devel\u00adop\u00adment and Manu\u00adfac\u00adturing Orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtions, or contract packers) are coming into the fold. These take respon\u00adsi\u00adbility for the devel\u00adop\u00adment and produc\u00adtion of phar\u00adma\u00adceu\u00adtical prod\u00aducts on behalf of larger phar\u00adma\u00adceu\u00adtical compa\u00adnies.<\/p>\n

The Uhlmann France team feels French and cele\u00adbrates French customs together on certain holi\u00addays, for example. \u201cAfter the New Year, we give each other galettes, which are little cakes with surprises inside,\u201d Arnaud explains. Excur\u00adsions also feature on the program. Every year, for example, the employees travel together to the north of France and spend a few days there with each other \u2013 far away from the daily busi\u00adness routine. \u201cWe use e-scooters to explore the area, eat together and have fun.\u201d Arnaud himself enjoys spending his free time golfing, skiing and having time with his nine-year-old son.
